Instagram scheduler for posts, Reels, carousels, and Stories

PostQuest is an Instagram scheduler for Business and Creator accounts. You choose Post, Reel, or Story, add photos or a video, write the caption, and pick a time. Before the post is scheduled, PostQuest checks every file and the caption against Instagram’s publishing limits, such as aspect ratio, Reel length, and the five-hashtag cap.

Instagram’s own app can schedule posts and Reels for free, and Meta Business Suite adds Stories. PostQuest is for people who post the same idea to TikTok, LinkedIn, or Threads as well, manage several Instagram accounts, or want an AI assistant to draft posts they approve.

the Instagram app and Meta Business Suite vs PostQuest

Any public Instagram account can schedule photos, carousels, and Reels in the app, up to 30 days ahead and 25 posts a day. Meta Business Suite, Meta’s free desktop and mobile tool, adds Stories for professional accounts linked to a Facebook Page.

Use the Instagram app if you post to one account and plan less than a month ahead, and Meta Business Suite if you also need Stories and a Facebook Page. Use PostQuest when Instagram is one of several networks, or when you want posts checked against Instagram’s limits before they go out.

Which Instagram accounts can you connect?

PostQuest publishes through Meta’s Instagram content publishing API, which only accepts professional accounts. Personal accounts can’t be connected; switching to a Creator account is free in the Instagram app.

  • Connect with Instagram Login; no Facebook Page is needed. To add a second account, switch accounts on instagram.com first, then connect again.
  • Each Instagram account counts as one account on your plan.
  • Meta lets an account publish up to 100 posts through the API in a rolling 24-hour period.

How to schedule Instagram posts in PostQuest

  1. Step 1: Connect your Instagram account

Open Connections, choose Instagram, and sign in with a Business or Creator account. Repeat for each account you want to schedule to.

  2. Step 2: Pick the account and the format

In the composer, select one or more Instagram accounts under “Where should this go?”, then choose Post, Reel, or Story above the media area.

PostQuest composer with an Instagram account selected, Post, Reel, and Story options above the media panel, one attached photo, and a caption counted against Instagram’s 2,200-character limit
  3. Step 3: Add photos or a video

A post can be one photo or a carousel of 2 to 10 photos and videos. For a video, pick a cover frame or upload a cover image. Media requirements lists the limits PostQuest checks.

  4. Step 4: Write the caption for each account

Each selected account gets its own tab, so you can tailor the caption per account. The counter tracks Instagram’s 2,200-character limit, and more than five hashtags is flagged.

  5. Step 5: Choose a time and schedule

Pick a date and time in your workspace time zone and click Schedule. If anything breaks Instagram’s rules, the button stays disabled and lists the reasons.

Schedule Instagram posts from Claude or ChatGPT

Connect PostQuest to Claude or ChatGPT over MCP and ask for posts in plain language. The assistant creates drafts by default; scheduling, publishing, and deleting need your explicit approval.

“Write an Instagram caption for this product photo with at most five hashtags, and save it as a draft for my brand account.”
The assistant finds the right Instagram account, creates a draft with the photo, and links you to it in PostQuest.
“Turn my latest LinkedIn draft into an Instagram carousel caption and a TikTok caption, then validate both.”
You get drafts sized for each network and a list of anything that breaks a limit, such as too many hashtags.
“Schedule the approved Instagram Reel for Saturday at 10 a.m. Los Angeles time.”
The assistant asks you to confirm first. Nothing is scheduled without your approval.

Why an Instagram post fails, and how to fix it

PostQuest catches these before scheduling, so you fix them in the composer instead of finding a failed post later.

A personal Instagram account
Meta’s API only publishes to Business and Creator accounts. Switch to a professional account in the Instagram app’s settings, then connect it.
A feed image outside 4:5 to 1.91:1
Instagram feed images must be between 4:5 portrait and 1.91:1 landscape, and 320 to 1,440 pixels wide. Crop or re-export the image.
More than five hashtags
Instagram caps posts and Reels at five hashtags. Trim older caption templates to the five most specific tags.
A Reel shorter than three seconds or longer than 15 minutes
Reels published through the API must run 3 seconds to 15 minutes at 23 to 60 frames per second. Trim or re-export the video.
The connection expired
A password change or removed app access breaks the connection. Reconnect the account in Connections, then retry the failed post; other networks in the same post are not affected.

Instagram scheduler FAQ

Can I schedule posts to a personal Instagram account?

Not with PostQuest. Meta’s API, which every third-party scheduler uses, only publishes to Business and Creator accounts. Switching to a Creator account is free in the Instagram app. The Instagram app itself can schedule posts for any public account, personal or professional.

Can PostQuest schedule Instagram Stories?

Yes. Choose Story in the composer and add one photo or one video. PostQuest checks the file against Instagram’s Story limits before the post is scheduled. The Instagram app can’t schedule Stories, but Meta Business Suite can.

Is there a free Instagram scheduler?

Yes. The Instagram app schedules photos, carousels, and Reels up to 30 days ahead for free, and Meta Business Suite adds Stories. PostQuest has a seven-day free trial but no free plan; it is built for Instagram alongside other networks.

Does PostQuest add a first comment or collaborators?

No. PostQuest sends the caption, media, cover, and format to Instagram. It doesn’t add a first comment, collaborators, location, user tags, or alt text. If you need those, add them in Instagram after the post publishes.

Can Claude or ChatGPT schedule Instagram posts?

Yes, once you connect PostQuest to Claude or ChatGPT over MCP. The assistant can draft captions, attach media, and check the post against Instagram’s limits. Scheduling, publishing, or deleting needs your explicit approval in the conversation.
