Threads scheduler for text, photo, video, and carousel posts

PostQuest is a Threads scheduler for text posts, link posts, photos, videos, and carousels of up to 20 items. You write the post, add media, and pick a time. Before the post is scheduled, PostQuest checks the text against Threads’ 500-character limit and every file against Meta’s media rules.

The Threads app can schedule posts itself, and for one profile that may be enough. PostQuest is for people who post the same idea to Threads, Instagram, X, and Bluesky, run several Threads profiles, or want an AI assistant to draft posts they approve.

What you can schedule on Threads

PostQuest checks every Threads post against these limits before it is scheduled. They come from the same rules that power the composer, last checked against Threads’s API documentation on September 11, 2026.

FormatFilesLimits
Text PostNo mediaCaption only
Link PostNo mediaCaption only

Captions can be up to 500 characters. Hashtags: 1 per post. See every dimension, aspect ratio, and codec on the Threads post size and specs page.

the Threads app vs PostQuest

Threads added post scheduling in January 2025. You write a post, open the composer menu, and pick a date and time; scheduled posts wait in Drafts, where you can edit or delete them before they go live. Meta’s help center doesn’t document how far ahead you can schedule.

Use the Threads app if you post to one profile and only to Threads. Use PostQuest when Threads is one of several networks, you manage more than one profile, or you want every post checked against Threads’ limits before it goes out.

How to schedule in the Threads app

  2. Tap the ••• menu in the composer.

Which Threads accounts can you connect?

Connect a Threads profile through Meta’s login and approve PostQuest’s access. Each profile counts as one account on your plan.

  • You can connect several Threads profiles and send one post to more than one of them.
  • Meta allows up to 250 posts per profile in a rolling 24 hours through its API; a carousel counts as one post.
  • If Meta revokes access, the profile shows Reconnect. Failed posts can be retried once it is reconnected.

How to schedule Threads posts in PostQuest

  1. Step 1: Connect your Threads profile

Open Connections, choose Threads, and sign in with Meta. Repeat for each Threads profile you manage.

  2. Step 2: Select the profile and write the post

Choose the Threads profile in the composer and write up to 500 characters. If you post to other networks too, give Threads its own shorter version.

  3. Step 3: Add photos or a video

Attach one JPEG or PNG photo up to 8 MB, one video up to 5 minutes, or a carousel of 2 to 20 photos and videos.

  4. Step 4: Check the requirements

Open Media requirements to see the Threads limits PostQuest checks: file types, sizes, image width, and video length, frame rate, and bitrate.

  5. Step 5: Choose a time and schedule

Pick a date and time in your workspace time zone and click Schedule. Posts that are pending approval wait until someone approves them.

Schedule Threads posts from Claude or ChatGPT

Connect PostQuest to Claude or ChatGPT over MCP and ask for posts in plain language. The assistant creates drafts by default; scheduling, publishing, and deleting need your explicit approval.

“Turn these release notes into a Threads post under 500 characters and save it as a draft.”
The assistant writes a draft for your Threads profile and tells you if anything needs trimming.
“Make a Threads version and a Bluesky version of my latest X draft, then validate all three.”
You get a draft for each network, each checked against its own character limit.
“Schedule the approved Threads post for tomorrow at 8 a.m. Toronto time.”
The assistant asks you to confirm first. Nothing is scheduled without your approval.

Why a Threads post fails, and how to fix it

PostQuest catches these before scheduling, so you fix them in the composer instead of finding a failed post later.

Text over 500 characters
Threads posts are capped at 500 characters. Shorten the Threads version; your other networks keep their own captions.
A WebP or GIF image
Threads photo posts take JPEG or PNG files up to 8 MB and 320 to 1,440 pixels wide. Convert the image first.
A video longer than 5 minutes
Threads videos must be MP4 or MOV, up to 5 minutes and 1 GB. Trim the video or post a shorter cut.
More than 20 carousel items
A Threads carousel takes 2 to 20 photos and videos. Split larger sets into two posts.
The profile needs reconnecting
If Meta revoked PostQuest’s access, reconnect the profile in Connections, then retry the failed post. Other networks in the same post are not affected.

Threads scheduler FAQ

Can you schedule posts on Threads?

Yes. Threads added scheduling in January 2025: open the composer menu, choose Schedule, and pick a time. Scheduled posts wait in Drafts. PostQuest also schedules Threads posts, alongside your other networks and with checks against Threads’ limits.

Can I schedule Threads carousels and videos?

Yes. PostQuest schedules videos up to 5 minutes and carousels of 2 to 20 photos and videos. Each file is checked against Meta’s limits before the post is scheduled.

Can I post the same update to Threads and Instagram?

Yes. Select both accounts in one post and give each its own caption. Instagram needs media, so add a photo or video if the Threads version is text only.

Is there a free Threads scheduler?

Yes. The Threads app schedules posts for free. PostQuest has a seven-day free trial but no free plan; it is built for Threads alongside other networks.

Can Claude or ChatGPT schedule Threads posts?

Yes, through PostQuest’s MCP connection. The assistant can draft Threads posts, check them against the 500-character limit, and schedule them once you approve. It can’t publish without your confirmation.
